“Collers” – trophy donor and ‘outrageous’ winner

The Aularian Golfing Society 2021 season finished on a high with, what has become, the traditional ‘finale’ meeting at Beaconsfield G.C. The end-of-season competition produced some fine scores in damp conditions and a most popular Winner in John ‘Collers’ Collingwood whose outrageous 40 points pipped Ian Durrans and Clive Penwarden (39) at the post.

As regulars will know, the day’s competition is supplemented by the very prestigious award of the enormous Collers Cup! It is awarded to the AGS member who records the highest aggregate Stableford score over his best three rounds of the season. This year’s winner was also the holder. So, congratulations to Ian Durrans who, with 112 points, had an impressive average of 37+ points a round! Joint runners-up with 106 points were Chris Atkinson and Nick Harley and in joint 4th place were Chris Hockey and David McCammon with 101.

As ever, we were well looked after by Beaconsfield G.C. with substantial helpings of ham, eggs n’ chips being particularly appreciated. Our thanks go to our host, David Jackson, for setting everything up; David McCammon for supplying the wine, and, of course, to Collers for presenting his Cup, once again, to Champion Ian Durrans.

We now look forward to the 2022 season, the fixture list for which has been posted on another page and has been circulated to all members.
