Stableford ‘index’ soars at AGM meeting

The benign conditions at Studley Wood Golf Club produced some exceptional scoring at the Aularian Golfing Society’s 14th Annual General Meeting event, with 14 of the 20 members who competed recording over 30 points apiece! 

Topping the lot with an impressive 41 points and winner of the Aularian Jigger, was David McCammon. Runner-up was Ian Durrans with 39 and third equal - one point behind - came Adrian Haxby and Tom Moore. The team event was won by John Collingwood (34), Nick Harley (35), Ken Hinkley-Smith (33) and Mike Simmie (35).

The prize-giving – as usual presided over by the Society’s ‘Mr Indispensable’ Chris Atkinson, who was re-elected nem con  - 16 members retired to the Hall for dinner in the Old Dining Room. Appetities were whetted with a delightful champagne reception around the well and a delicious meal, with appropriate wines, was served in style. Before - and after - the Buttery was well patronised. There was also a reunion of six former members of the 'Scope Club', who punctuated their studies at the Hall with regular visits to the cinema!
